Year 2 week 31

30th July – 5th August 2017

Now that I am back from my holiday and at home for a while, I thought I would take the opportunity to get myself back on track – back on track with organising healthy meals, organise my food intake, continue with my exercises and hopefully lose more weight.

18 months ago, when I first met Jenny my nutritionist, she told me that at first the weight would come off very easy. Then I will get to a stage and it will stop. In that pause I was to maintain my weight and after a period of time has gone, to try again and see if I can lose anymore weight.

That is exactly what has happened to me. In previous diets, that pause has been a frustration for me, it has been the part where I give up and turn back to my old habits.

This time I am not as frustrated. It would have been nice to continuously lose weight but I haven’t. Instead of getting down about it I have just tried to continue and not really worry too much about what the scales say.

Now that I am back from my holiday I feel I can concentrate on it a bit more. I thought I would go back to basics and start from the beginning again. It meant I had to take a look at what I did all those months ago.

Hindsight can be really good and useful but looking all the way back to the beginning, seeing what I went through, makes me wonder how I ever did it the first time.

What I did back then was the hardest thing I have ever done. The pain and suffering I went through to change my eating habits was so immense that I don’t think I could do it again.

My habits have changed so much and all that hunger, shakes, eating less, low energy levels, tears, eating food I didn’t like, cutting out food I did, pain and suffering were worth it.

Looking back now, knowing how hard it was, makes it even harder for me to start again. So on this occasion hindsight isn’t good.

However things are a little different and should possibly be easier as I am already eating less and I won’t have to eat food I don’t like anymore because I have grown to enjoy it. I will have to cut back on foods I have let creep back in and I will have to go hungry again. But it seems like nothing in comparison.

Because I’ve looked back it has made it difficult to start again, so I have decided to tweek things a little and do it slightly differently so I can’t see what’s coming.  Hopefully when I start seeing results again it will help me to continue

Day 261

Saturday 17th September 2016

I have been doing a lot of baking lately. The reason is because today I have had a few people round. I was hosting a nutrition party.

Jenny came and did a talk on nutrition and I baked lots of cakes. I know what you are thinking – that cakes and nutrition don’t mix. Well you would be wrong. I made alternative cakes that contain vegetables, nuts, natural healthy ingredients and natural sugars. They were all gluten free.

I made chocolate brownies out of beetroot, persian carrot cake with the new improved recipe and buckwheat scones.

I can’t eat jam so I used a fruit compote with no added sugar and surprisingly I can eat cream because it’s a natural fat.

We wanted to show that you don’t have to give up things to be healthy and that you can still eat cakes as an occasional treat without ruining the diet.

I think people really enjoyed themselves. I think I will have to do it again. The only draw back is that there is cake left over that I might feel the need to eat.

Day 81

Monday 21st March 2016

When it comes to proteins I seem to always default to chicken, I have been told that I need to mix it up a bit. I can only have chicken, fish, eggs, seeds, nuts and pulses.

I have not really ever had pulses, I don’t even know what to do with them. I thought maybe a soup. Jennie made me one today.  She added lentils, chickpeas and a selection of vegetables.

I really wasn’t sure that I would like it, however it was really nice. I have been missing out all these years

18st 7.7lbs.    0.2 lbs⬆️.     39.3lbs⬇️total

Day 72

Saturday 12th March 2016.

I have had a bad stomach for a few days now, this morning though it was particularly bad so I didn’t eat breakfast. 2 o’clock came and I still wasn’t hungry, I was however concerned about not eating anything. I rang the nutritionist and she said have a vegetable smoothie.

It was really disgusting and I had to really force it down, but it really did do the trick though.

I felt a lot better by the evening, I still wasn’t hungry but I did eat a proper meal.

I had only eaten 531 calories today.

19st 0.3lbs.    0.5lbs⬇️.   32.7lbs⬇️total

Day 63

Thursday 3rd March 2016

Went for a morning walk with Jenny the neighbor, it’s nice getting fresh air in morning it wakes you up for the day.

Every morning as part of my breakfast I have an apple. The nutritionist says it is really important to include an apple as one of my daily fruit allowance.

Went to my mums for dinner I asked her to make salmon as I hadn’t eaten it this week. I was really hungry when I got there and I regretted that I asked for fish because still don’t like it. It was OK this time, even though I had to watch the kids eat pizza.

19st 3.6lbs.   0.4lbs⬇️.    29.4lbs⬇️total

Day 42

Thursday 10th February 2016

When you haven’t had something for so long, you really appreciate it when you can have it all of sudden.

Butter, coconut oil and extra virgin olive oil are the items I need to start using again. The reason being that when you start using them after a 2 week absence it helps to break down fats and will help you to lose more weight. When the diet inclusions are constantly changing, it means that you won’t plateau for a long period of time.

19st 13.1lbs.    0.4lbs⬆️.   19.9lbs⬇️total 😀

Day 21

Thursday 21st January 2016

Weight went up again, not really worried as it is going up and down all the time.

Went for a walk again. Matt has been very helpful, I have dieted many times before and always did well but one day I just stopped losing weight. I then got diagnosed with an under active thyroid and discovered that I over produce oestrogen which both make you put on weight.

I then went through 6 months of depression where I piled weight back on. I tried for years after that to lose weight, but I was fighting against so many medical conditions that it was impossible.

This time Matt found a nutritionist and we made an appointment. Today was our first visit.

She was very helpful and said that all these medical conditions can be reversed by a very strict diet. I needed a blood test to see what was really going on inside.

I will be starting my diet with her next week

20st 11.5lbs.   5lbs ⬆️.   7.5lbs ⬇️total. 😐
