I have been doing a lot of baking lately. The reason is because today I have had a few people round. I was hosting a nutrition party.
Jenny came and did a talk on nutrition and I baked lots of cakes. I know what you are thinking – that cakes and nutrition don’t mix. Well you would be wrong. I made alternative cakes that contain vegetables, nuts, natural healthy ingredients and natural sugars. They were all gluten free.
I made chocolate brownies out of beetroot, persian carrot cake with the new improved recipe and buckwheat scones.
I can’t eat jam so I used a fruit compote with no added sugar and surprisingly I can eat cream because it’s a natural fat.
We wanted to show that you don’t have to give up things to be healthy and that you can still eat cakes as an occasional treat without ruining the diet.
I think people really enjoyed themselves. I think I will have to do it again. The only draw back is that there is cake left over that I might feel the need to eat.

I woke up today in a bit of a mood, totally fed up. I don’t know why. I think I am a bit run down. The only thing that was good was that it’s Wednesday and I always go and see Jenny, the nutritionist, first thing on a Wednesday morning.
Today was slightly different though because she told me not to have breakfast before I came.
We had our usual chat and weigh in. I told her my frustrations and then we discussed them like we normally do.
This week I have been frustrated about my weight but when I got weighed I had lost over 2lbs and put on over 2lbs of muscle (which weighs heavier than fat) which cheered me up no end. So even though things seemed bad they weren’t at all.
She then took me out for brunch to a place that made alternative cakes.
Normally I would pick a Victoria sponge cake. However it really didn’t appeal to me, it looked far too sickly. So I choose a Persian carrot cake that mainly contains nuts and vegetables. It was the nicest cake I have ever tasted. It had a lot more flavour than a Victoria sponge and about a third of the calories too.
It was what I needed today to cheer me up and it was like having a treat without cheating

Wednesday 17th February 2016
It’s half term so I decided that Jake could have a birthday party at home. I kept myself very busy all morning and I got very tired. Cooked loads of pizza and garlic bread for the kids lunch.
15 kids and parents got fed except for me. I don’t know why but pizza just isn’t on my food list. There was also birthday cake. I couldn’t eat that either.
I was so tired that I slept most of the afternoon.

I am really happy that the weight is going down every day, however I am starting to find it really hard.
I am still eating within my calorie allowance given from My Fitness Pal but the longer it goes on the hungrier I am getting. It’s better than yesterday though.
Went swimming today.
